Survey
The Promenade on Erie Harbor is located on a riverfront site adjacent to South Avenue on the east side of the Genesee River. The site contains historical structures that need to be restored and used in the design of the park, and a featured promenade that optimizes the public’s view of the waterfront. Popli Design Group (PDG) provided surveying and electrical engineering services on the project.
Popli Design Group’s survey team was responsible for performing a full topographic survey of the existing raceway, adjoining streets, utilities, buildings, and historic structures. This included survey of a portion of exposed bedrock in the bed of the Genesee River. Property line determination was also performed for the project, which included resolution of a complicated patchwork of easements that affected the property. Final mapping and digital terrain models were supplied in Microstation/Bentley formats to NYSDOT specifications.
The electrical design process included decorative post-mounted architectural LED light fixtures to illuminate the pedestrian bridge as well as the promenade. Additional exterior lighting design was conceptualized to highlight area entry signage, existing natural stone support pier, and the architectural elements built into the promenade. The team utilized color-conscious LED fixtures to provide an aesthetically pleasing visual focal point.
